School objects (Reading)

Date: Thursday, October 6th, 2016.

Topic: Bart goes to school.

After teachers finished to decorate the classroom, students arrived to it. Teachers greeted their students and explained some general rules in Spanish such as the behavior and some announcements they have.
In the first activity, Ss played the basketball game. T Nicole divided the class in two teams. She asked the half of the class to stand up and form a line. Then, she asked the other half of the class to do the same. In that way T could controlled the Ss, so they didn’t make a mess. The first person of the line threw the ball to the basket trying to score a point for his/her group. The Ss who didn’t do a basket go to the end of the line to wait for another turn. Ss were really entertain and they enjoy the activity a lot.
 Besides, regarding to the presentation, T Yansi presented the key vocabulary of the reading. The words that she presented were: go to school, wake up, supermarket, fun and pack. She explained the new words and gave examples to the students. Also, she asked Ss to repeat the words many times. Later, she asked some students the question “what is this” in order to check their students understanding of the new vocabulary.
Moreover, T Nicole performed the during-Listening stage. Some questions and answers were pasted in the board. T asked Ss to pay attention and she started to read for them. She wanted Ss to understand everything because they would answer that later. Suddenly, one student started to read with the teacher, so she encouraged and let him continue to read. After that, T provided the reading, it was a comic and Ss liked it a lot. Ss tried to read it, but some were saying that they could not understand. T Nicole decided to read the text aloud and explained some details, so that Ss could comprehend the reading better. After everybody finished to read, T were asking the questions she presented before. There were two answers for each question and Ss had to choose the correct one according to what they understand from the passage. T checked the correct answers they said.
Furthermore, T Yansi divided the class in two groups. She asked Ss to stand up in an organized way. Ss were going to play the memory game. She pasted some color papers that were folded because they had the word inside and T was going to discover the word when Ss mention the number of one. Then, Ss had to choose a flashcard that was facing down, so T raised up the two pages in order to check if Ss could match the picture and the word. If they do not do it correctly, they had to keep in mind the position of each one and try to match them with the correct one.
Finally, Ss played the hot hat. They really like the activity and they feel encourage to participate in it. Ss started to pass the hat. The one who has the hat when T stopped counting was going to mention the name of the picture that T showed him/her.
The class was well performed by the teachers, the activities were nice and Ss like them a lot. They behave well and that facilitate the development of every activity and task.
